Your skills are improving by leaps and bounds Martin, this one will really be noticed, makes an option to trundle a few railway wagons down the line 'out of hours'; Wonder if it's possible to squeeze one of those light fittings in with the battery tucked under the rear end? Not that we're asking the impossible obviously... 🤫
Are you a vampire too? 'cos we must both have red eyes by now... said it before, great minds etc.; Now then, that 'guards' lamp: If it too is provided with a small central hole plus a red 'jewel' lens then either (a) a short length of fibre optic fed from beside the main led and into the back of said lens to draw directly from that light source or (b) provide said hole but forego the other main light to use the second led as the illuminator might do the trick? (Of course if option ((a)) proved practical then both main lights can still be lit).
Agreed the tower is a conundrum being so complex in design but this may be the clue- mould it in two sections being either a tight, friction fit that could be pulled up / pushed down (e.g. think of the older Matchbox fire engines etc) or a looser fit with 'push' spring action (a small one might just be hidden behind that framework?); Mould one ladder section onto the bottom frame, slot the separate second one through ladder guides and glue it to the upper frame- as the tower moves so would the ladder for effect?
Rough ideas yes but even without lighting this tram was often used to run railway wagon 'trains' along the network at night so a handful driven by a 'powered' van would look good (Dapol made two for Blackpool companies in fact). The list of possibilities just keeps growing & growing & growing... sleep soundly!
And Finally the crane truck
Very impressive, noted the inclusion of the correct coupling method on the underframes- in different circumstances it may have been possible to create adapted bodies for proprietary wagons- but the time frame is too late for my use as the shunter wasn't included until late 1940's; Oh well that's fine though as I can just employ it for the coal wagon runs to Thornton, should look good too in red with black & white lining: wonder if it also ran wartime ammunition vans for the infantry training?
